About Me

I'm a DevOps/Platform/Cloud engineer in the financial services industry.
Over 12+ years of experience in the industry, ranging from Operations to Engineering.
I'm currently focused on Platform engineering, reducing barriers to entry for app teams for both their general onboarding journey, as well as ensuring they can build their cloud infrastructure with as little friction as possible. For a bit of fun on the side, at work, I'm also working to roll out the usage of Devcontainers, to bridge the development experience and expedite the onboarding process for new starters, as well as providing a more consistent development experience for all.

I've led and heavily influenced numerous observability projects with different focuses:

• Leading implementing and designing AppDynamics at organisational level
• Leading implementing and designing the first strategic monitoring strategy in the enterprise cloud
• Leading implementation and wrangling of centralised monitoring for tactical cloud
• Implementing Elastic/ELK within the cloud and bringing IaC implementation to Logging
• Implementing Dynatrace within the cloud and bringing IaC implementation to general Observability, as well as migration from Elastic.co

Interests include:

• Homelabbing - building and maintaining my home lab for experimentation and learning
• Music - musician with national touring experience with prior band (I'm no longer this cool), as well as a focus in Music production. Now this makes for a pretty teams background!
• Home Automation - deep into Home Assistant and automating things that don't need to be automated (think letting the house know when the cat's just been to the toilet)
• Golf - my close friendship group is starting to show our age
